Rooted in Franklin County

Sheriff Scott Andrews is a Franklin County native and resides in Carnesville with his wife, Laurie. Public service and law enforcement run deep in his family. He is a third-generation law enforcement officer, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.

With more than 35 years of law-enforcement experience and over 3,360 hours of professional training, Sheriff Andrews has served at the local and state levels in a wide range of operational, supervisory, tactical, and leadership roles.

Georgia Department of Corrections

Served with the Riot Squad, gaining early experience in institutional security and public-safety operations.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office

Assignments included the SWAT Team, Motorcycle Unit, and Accident Investigation Unit.

Georgia State Patrol

Served as Corporal, Sergeant, and Sergeant First Class, retired as a Post Commander, and served as a member of the Georgia State Patrol SWAT Team.

Executive & Special Assignments

Graduate of FBI Law Enforcement Executive Training; served as an Assistant Platoon Leader for G8 Summit security; assisted the United States Secret Service during a presidential visit to Greensboro; and performed sideline detail and traffic-control duties with the University of Georgia.

Professional Leadership

Served as a Past President of the Peace Officers Association of Georgia.

Franklin County Schools

Before being elected Sheriff, Andrews served his home community as Safety and Security Director for Franklin County Schools.
